Fabric Manager - Germany

An incredible opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fabric Manager to join a lifestyle brand based in Germany.


My client is a high street Lifestyle Brand based in Germany


role ..

Fabric trend scouting & development:

- Drive research of fabric trends and present market relevant fabric concepts to design

- Act as the source for industry leading fabric concepts and future ideas

- Maintain contact with T1 and T2 suppliers for constant R&D of new fabrics, including price negotiations

- Ensure innovation flow from T1 and T2 to design

- Ensure that all selected fabrics are tested and approved

- Drive maintenance/ updates of fabrics data in internal data systems (Centric PLM)

Fabric toolbox management:

-Drive selection, development or buying of fabrics, which provide commercial success (e.g. target price) and support multiple creation processes and timelines in parallel

Set up and maintain division-specific fabric toolboxes jointly with Design and Buying

- Drive consistent monitoring of all fabric related processes/topics such as fabric booking, delivery status, lead times, testing, quality issues during sampling and production

- Translate the design vision into a fabric development and source fabrics according to the sourcing policy and quality standards

Fabric availability/risk management:

- Pro-actively look for available/existing stock for in-season response to trends or needs from own retail (spot buying)

- Support divisions with technical fabric expertise, give risk analysis and drive solutions for quality issues.


-Solid experience working within a similar position

-Degree in clothing/material technology and/or manufacturing; textile engineering or textile commercial background

-Excellent negotiation skills and deep understanding of supply chain (planning, allocation and production)

-Very good technical knowledge of garment construction, materials and manufacturing processes

-Strong organisation and communication skills with the ability to prioritize workload

-Availability to travel abroad

-Fluent in English and German languages
